So what's the news from Hell lately?

Last edited Sat Apr 3, 2021, 12:00 AM - Edit history (2)

Has Satan and the demons changed their management style yet?

Why should they suffer from their dissatisfied tortured souls? Damned sourpusses! They need to learn from American corporations and DEMAND that they act happy about it! Positive thoughts, everyone!

I'm exaggerating, of course! I'm also an atheist, so the references to Hell are a joke from me.

The compulsory displays of fake happiness disturbs me, that's all.

Give me employees who actually try to do a job well, and get rewarded for it, not a bunch of fakes.

I've been reading this book over the last couple days:

I had already observed the phenomenon, so I suppose it's just reinforcing how I've already felt about it.

Edit:
The author mentioned several examples of early American history that was the opposite, back when Calvinist-Protestants were the majority and pretty much demanded the opposite. Constant working, denial of pleasures, etc. (She never mentioned slavery, but I could imagine it wasn't viewed so horribly among people who were often trying to embrace misery themselves.)
Then she posits that the pendulum swung the other direction by the 1800's, and it's currently at the other extreme.

you could bet that I would be in the back of that crowd, rolling my eyes barely going through the motions and praying to the Universe to make this end - quickly. Then I might barf.

When I was a supervisor for a few years, my best employee was a major grouch. His performance was always superb, though.

The manager, who never really KNEW any of the employees anyway, eventually fired him for his "bad attitude", against my wishes. I later quit and found a different job.

It's pronoia and it is the belief the universe is conspiring to make your life wonderful...

I so dispise the positive think.

New age gagfest .

The universe is made of love you say?

We suffer the human condition, animals suffer ,we live with people who lack empathy and abuse and kill us and kill this planet meanwhile everything dies because a bunch of planets, stars, quasars, comets, hot gasses , space dust ,elements, meteors, the oort cloud, among other things loves us..

Quantum physics explains it all...

My ass.
