(32,738 posts)it gets better. I haven't run around the track in over a week. Just did 30 laps, 3 miles and the sunshine and music on my head phones were divine. You've got better days to look forward to.

(16,390 posts)I'm beginning to wonder if there won't be another booster required in the late fall or early winter. This is all uncharted territory we're living through.

(14,858 posts)Moderna already submitted a (3rd) booster shot for approval many weeks ago, for the South African variant if I'm not mistaken.

(14,858 posts)An update regarding Moderna's booster, anyway.
The clinical trials only recently started, but Moderna submitted their request back in February.

----------
KEY POINTS
The National Institutes of Health has started testing a new coronavirus vaccine from Moderna designed to protect against a problematic variant first found in South Africa.
The phase one trial will test how safe and effective the new shot is against the variant in approximately 210 healthy adults.
Researchers expect the trial to be fully enrolled by the end of April.

Edit: I think both Moderna and Pfizer are very optimistic about it. They just modify the RNA, which they say is a pretty easy process.

(34,136 posts)at the mercy (?) of that orange monster and his kin and pals. I am certain President Biden will be ready and already have the plans in place and the vaccines ready. At least as much as is possible in the time frame. I was truly afraid with that ass in control before. At the very least we know President Biden actually cares about all of us.
Whatever comes our way next we know it will be taken seriously. It is really hard to believe that any president could let it slide like he did and then hold back what work others had done on his behalf or on their own.
Unchartered territory is scary, very scary but at least our leaders care about us and have most of the control anyway.
I think we can count on it, since too many arent wanting a vacc and the spread and variance (and death count) will continue
stay safe

(32,738 posts)First thought was COVID and I was 70 years old. Had 3 test in the first 12 hours and they were negative. I'm thinking, great I don't have it. After a few days I was sent home feeling a lot better. They told me I had sepsis. I thought, great it's not COVID.
I had no idea about how dangerous sepsis is. While COVID kills about 8% of those my age, I've learned that sepsis kills 50% of those that contract it. Turns out I was lucky not to have COVID, I was really lucky to survive what I did have.

I asked if it hurt but he didn't answer so I poked it and he winced. I had a doctor check it out and it was sepsis. A nurse took good care of him

It feels like a dark cloud that's been hovering over my shoulder has finally lifted. What a relief.
