I didn’t even know there was such a thing. I used to make fun of birders but I’ve become one myself. Birds bring me joy. Thanks for sharing.

imma have a big aviary w a dozen kinds if finches, at least.
i did have zebras for a while. funny little things.

i once made a nice little aviary for my budgies out of a dresser i picked up in the alley.
i can see turning some big armoire into a little colony of tweety things.

The wiki article says there are 'introduced' populations elsewhere. I doubt they'd thrive in my climate, however.

13. The only finches that come to my feeders are house finches and goldfinches.

Those are beautiful. I could sit and watch my feeders all day long.

18. I don't remember ever seeing a bird that looked like that.

To the best of my recollection, the only birds I've seen that were that speckled were nowhere near as colourful. For some reason, I think of the finches Darwin observed in the Galapagos. These ones appear to be Mardi Gras-ready.
