... on the cat, like the bandanna around the neck.

Don't provide anything for the Dalmatian to latch onto and then "playfully" shake, like in a game of tug of war.

My parents had a Dalmatian years ago, and I saw things that I'll never forget.

Other than that, the Dalmatian seems to be bonding with the cat and will likely always try to be gentle.
