Cicada wear, a 2021 fashion statement.

CNET article-https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/wearable-bug-pod-protects-you-from-brood-x-cicadas-and-your-dignity/

snip-"The limited-edition product -- which looks a lot like a portable laundry hamper -- comes from Under the Weather, which makes pop-up protective outdoor gear that shields you from wind, rain, show, sun, and now, creepy-crawlies."

snip-"Cicadas don't bite or sting, but the WalkingPod Mesh guards the body from other insects that do, like mosquitos. If you stick your arms out of the clinched armholes, though, you're on your own, brother."

snip--"The pod, available for preorder now, costs $89.99 (about £65, AU$118). It's made from fine-gauge mesh screens with a choice of trim in colors I'd call bright bumblebee yellow or gunmetal grasshopper gray. It weighs 3 pounds (1.4 kilograms) and comes in one size, with adjustable backpack and waist straps."

although, rather than spending ~$100, I'd DIY a version from a $5 laundry hamper. Just in time for summer!

We lay down on the grass under a tree and let them drop on us . One of my friends ate one live which grossed me out. I said that bug waited 17 yrs to come out to be eaten by you ?
Cicada emergence is a cool nature thing to experience when they come out in full force
Earplugs maybe they can get loud but I love that brood buzz hum sound
Who wouldn’t wake up screaming after 17 years ??

When they come out around here there are always some recipes for cooking them too
BBQ sauce butter wine whatever, still doesn’t make them any more appealing to eat to me
Just the wings alone say no
