I think I like them because the characters don't look like they came out of Central Casting.

The women dont look nineteen with pouty lips. The men dont look nineteen with pouty lips. The dialogue is adult and bed romping is held to a minimum. 🤮

Our PBS station has started showing Vera.

They are excellent. Just finished, The Moth Catchers with our less than perfect Vera.

Each season about 12 episodes. Very intense. Sometimes a little over dramatic.
Another one I'm enjoying, which is a bit lighthearted is New Tricks on Amazon. British cop series. 12 Seasons.
