(22,363 posts)1. I had to learn that poem in grade school
and hadn't heard again until now.
I had forgotten most of it!

(4,994 posts)2. I memorized the first third when I was a kid,
long before I moved to Middlesex County where I'm surrounded by that history. I wish I'd learned the whole thing; what a party trick! I've tried but just can't get into it again. I do still bore people with the first third, but only on this date.

(9,606 posts)4. Well, when I was a kid
I memorized about 3/4 of "The Face on the Barroom Floor." Actually, my dad used to recite it when he was drunk, making a big display with gestures and his voice. So I learned it by osmosis.

(9,606 posts)3. I thought the presentation
was riveting and beautiful. I just sent it to my son, suggesting that he watch it with my 9 year old granddaughter. Don't know if he will or not, but I thought it was worth a try.
Thanks for posting.
