(23,661 posts)That happened to my once neighbor's dog. Older dog, poor eyesight. The slider was left open and the dog walked outside and fell in the pool. Unfortunately it drowned. Wife never got over it. It was her dog and blamed husband who was home at the time. She went into terrible depression. It killed her to think of the poor dog struggling in the pool and then finally just drowning. It was a small white mini poodle. She was never the same again.

I carried her in a doggie backpack for a hike near the end of her life.

(205,320 posts)My uncle had 2 collies - brothers. And they lived adjacent to a nearby lake where we used to swim as kids. One late winter/early spring, one of the dogs wandered too close to the lake and fell through the thin ice. His brother immediately started tearing around and barking up a storm until someone heard and came running and rescued the poor pup. Like I said, they were brothers.

(51,590 posts)Animals always help other animals (whether the same species or not) on Dodo videos. I remember one where a Labrador saw a fellow Labrador struggling to get out of a river and it went and got a long stick and stuck the other end near the struggling dog who grabbed it in his teeth and was pulled out of the water.
DOG is GOD to me!
