Anybody else have a boy sister?

Itís impossible to explain to very young children that adults started out as little people their size.
Iíve tried telling my twin 3 year old granddaughters that their Dad was once my baby, and was no bigger than they are now.
I was with them today, and explained that, at one time, their Dad was a baby and lived with me, and their Mom was a baby and lived with Pop Pop.
One of them looked at her sister for a minute, and then said, ďSo you and Pop Pop were boy sisters?Ē
Close enough. Iíll try again in a year or so.

5. Kids say the darndest things! Here's my little story about them.

My long time girlfriend had passed away and a few years after her daughter called me. She was explaining to her young kids what "gay" meant and how their grandma was gay. And she said, "Remember Maraya was always with your grandma" And the littest one said, "Oh that's why she loved me so much" And then she said, " Does that mean Maraya is my grandfather!"

Hey I'll take it!

6. All they knew was that people loved each other

Childrenís brains are like computers that arenít fully programmed. After learning that butterflies came from caterpillars, my girls made the logical assumption that cockroaches must come from really ugly worms.

9. I like the way Steve Goodman explained it. 😁

There are men who love women who love men
There are women who love women every now and then
There are men who love men because they can't pretend
They are men who love women who love men

10. "Our" grandchildren, at least the young ones (all 'acquired' in my case), all call my wife "Mamma D"

The eldest of what I've dubbed The Wee Ones couldn't pronounce "Grandma" or any reasonable variation, so she became "Mamma D." The youngest of all of them, Cecilia, is a complete panic, fearless, and lives her frantic little life right out loud.

A few days ago, her mom, Mamma D's youngest child, was talking to her about colouring hair. Ceci said "Tell Mamma D not to dye her hair grey any more." She was almost stunned to find out it wasn't a fashion choice.

Kids are hilarious.

A few years ago, on either Father's Day, or his birthday, Ceci and Alana's mom was taking them out to put flowers on her father, their grandfather's grave. As they were pulling out, Alana had been mulling over what was going on, then comes up with "Papa Dale is in Heaven, right?" "Yes, that's right."

So...half hour drive or so, and Ceci, being about 3 at the time, couldn't see out, so when they pulled into the cemetery and stopped, she craned her neck, trying to see out, and said "Are we in Heaven?"
