https://www.complex.com/style/clarks-jamaica-film-2021There is no shoe loved by Jamaican men like Clarks.
We wore Clarks to school - they lasted forever and often passed down to the younger siblings.

(5,124 posts)He would go on and on about how comfortable they are. He would try to convince me to get them for work since I used to be on my feet all day.
Good that the brand is recognizing the contribution of Jamaicans elevating the brand. I can think of many songs about or mentioning Clarks.

(268,967 posts)The thing is although Clark's was all over the Caribbean, it really made it's mark in the Yard.
I still like the sandals.
Bob was a Clark's man

(3,047 posts)I love Clarks footwear. One of the things I remember is the smell of new shoes when you first open the box. They smell like a good leather. After I have worn them a couple of months and put them back inside the box, not so good....
Great quality and fit.

(13,895 posts)like a glove. Walked around the concrete jungle ALL DAY and my feet felt fine.. better than fine. The first pair were brown and I subsequently bought a black pair. Had them for well over 10 years and they just don't wear out!!!! Still look new. I liked the wallabies but the fuzzy leather stretched out and got real loose on my foot.. YMMV

(7,233 posts)My mum kitted me out in a series of them over the time I was in school.
I remember trips to the town shoe repair shop in Wales to drop off a batch of the family's shoes to be repaired (mine probably suffered more than the others from playing lunchtime football wearing them). Then a week later, we'd pick them up, smelling waxy and looking and feeling like new. The shop was small at ground level, but had a big open trapdoor-type entrance to the downstairs workshop which fascinated me as a kid.
One reason we got Clarks for me was because they did a good range of width fittings and I have quite wide feet - measuring up my feet was quite an operation involving a length gauge with a couple of built-in tape measures. One of the town shoe shops had an antique fluoroscope machine for X-raying feet, but luckily it was long out of use and just served as a curio.
I was overjoyed a few years ago, when I needed some posh shoes for funeral and wedding wear, to find the Clarks shop in our local Scottish town had some in my size in a sale. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on, and I expect them to last longer than I will. They've already outlasted the shop, which sadly closed a couple of years ago.

(268,967 posts)Mum always bought Clarks because they lasted so long that they were passed down as older siblings grew out of theirs.
The one thing she instilled in all of us was that you must always always wear good shoes. By good she didn't mean expensive because of a name brand but comfortable and long-lasting.

(7,233 posts)They have good arch support and a reasonably stiff sole. I maimed one of my feet a few years ago and normally have to wear orthotic insoles to compensate, but I don't really need them with the Clarks.
Having seen my grandmother's gnarly hammer toes and bunions from cramming her feet into pointy shoes in her younger years, Clarks are one of the things from my upbringing I'm very grateful for!

(268,967 posts)Not boasting but my feet have been treated well all my life. As I'm typing here, they're being massaged by the Homedics. That's a nightly habit. You take care of them and they take care of you.
