At the grocery store, I prefer to stand in line for a cashier, even if the self checkout is wide open.
Cashiers need their jobs and wages and Im not interested in paying a store thats already getting my money to do a cashiers job for free.
Yeah, I support retail workers when I can, because theirs jobs are already tough and they need to be put into a position of necessity wherever automation is competing with them.
This has been a Confession Tuesday.

(611 posts)and for exactly the same reason. These people need to keep their jobs. They need the income. And, besides, I find that most of them are very friendly, and I really enjoy the personal interaction.

(58,440 posts)If it's lunch time, the self-checkout is usually backed up anyway. But if it isn't and I only have a couple of items, I'll use it.
But when I do a normal store trip, with more than 5-6 items I like to use the cashier line.
