The DU Lounge

It's not bad, but I don't get the burning need to make it into a movie.

(34,105 posts)and the first movie was certainly watchable and had some really nice parts but this next one has my son and I waiting in anxious anticipation. The visuals in the book are amazing on the screen.
I hope you can see it and that it is as good as I think it might be.

(34,105 posts)except to me. We frequently talk about movies and watch them together and I was just reflecting on a very recent conversation we had about the new Dune as opposed to the old Dune and the books. In fact we have been talking about it off and on over the last 3 or 4 days after watching the new Blade Runner ( I had not seen it and he was wanting me to watch it so we could talk about it) that was directed by the same man who directed the new Dune. It seems exciting and we are anticipating a really nice, fun, cool movie under his direction.
None of this is important to anyone else. I was just joining in the conversation?

(9,067 posts)...I thought it was great science fiction, and wonderful personalities.
I liked the 1984 movie better. I guess we'll see if the next version is the best yet.

(34,105 posts)I still love to read the long books but I actually listen now. I do not have the time to actually sit and read and being a narcoleptic it is really really hard to do it anyway. Listening is a great way to make it through those long ones!
