serve time in an animal shelter for let's say, a month. As being a long time resident of such an area, and still in contact w/ numerous neighbors down there, this was one of the worse things living out there in rural MO (it wasn't the animals, it was the people dumping the animals). If these people dump animals so readily, then think of this, that they probably treat their fellow human beings (family, friends if they have any, others just as bad)...

When I lived in a very rural area of the Ozarks (behind Bennett Springs State Park), the number of dogs dropped off by scumbags was shocking...I personally took in 3 of the abandoned dogs (still have too, wonderful health and wonderful animals), and so did my parents (over 20+ dogs, and cats too over a 30 year plus period of time) as well as neighbors too.

I'd say that there were approximately under 25 of us/neighbors over a 2-3 mile stretch of road (Highway double OO, immediately behind the park) that all of us had adopted/took in dogs, cats, and other abandoned animals (my Mom even saw an EMU while on her daily walks, it got to the point she started carrying her little pistol to protect her while walking out there in very rural Missouri).

I know that all of us on DU would never dump an innocent animal, so offer to take in an animal or help find it a home or something, if you should run into someone that's being cruel or hateful towards an innocent victim/animal. Personally I think the benefits of doing so (taking in, helping such an animal in distress) come back multi-fold in God awarding you in protecting part of his flock (the animals too).

people are cruel, we do not deserve the unconditional love that animals give so freely

He was a working dog that loved to ride in vans. If you left the driver's side door open he would jump in the seat and put his paws on the steering wheel. During the day he rode shot-gun in a delivery van. We used to deliver live stock to pet stores back in the 90s when there used to be mom & pop pet stores. At night he was in a rock and roll band. He would guard the equipment truck while we played and we would walk him between sets. A couple of the bars we played at would let him in at the end of the night. He would hang out on the stage with a t-bone or a treat while we packed up. I miss him so much. I didn't plan it, but the day I had to send him over the rainbow bridge it was the 50th anniversary of 'the day the music died'. His name was Cisco and he's Buddy Holly's dog now.

We couldn’t be more proud of Dad.’ Designer of Fort Worth dog train dies at 91.

BY DOMINGO RAMIREZ JR.
APRIL 22, 2020 05:00 AM, UPDATED APRIL 22, 2020 03:41 PM
FORT WORTH

Walter Virgil “Corky” Bostick, one of the creators of Fort Worth’s “dog train” — made to entertain the numerous stray dogs in his near downtown neighborhood — has died.

Bostick was 91.

Bostick died April 10 from natural causes in Fort Worth, where he and the Bostick family have lived for 80 years. Born in Vernon, Texas, Bostick was the oldest of four brothers. Two of his younger brothers have passed away.

Only baby brother Eugene Bostick, the 86-year-old conductor of the “dog train,” remains to operate one of the most wonderful creations in the canine world.

They often charge you a fee. These hideous people don't want to pay, and don't want the hassle of answering questions.

Our shelter gets lots of "strays" dropped off, many of whom are likely owned by the people. Strays don't cost money to turn in.

That being said, it's still better than dumping a dog (FYI - not a wild animal) in the woods.

These people are scum.

The Train Man was awesome!

people who abandon their pets spend the last 1/3 of a very long life lying in a urine soaked bed, in the nastiest nursing home in planet, no one ever visiting them for decades, being hated on by the staff.

There. Is. NEVER. An. Excuse. For. Abandoning. An Animal. Ever, under any circumstance.

If it's not 'till death do us part' they are a scumbag.
