Skittish Kitty did something totally unexpected, this afternoon

I put out a little wet food, using a plastic lid as a 'serving dish'. She took a few bites, looked up at me, and then grabbed the rim of the lid in her teeth and trotted off with it AND the food! I almost fell over, I laughed so hard. I guess she wasn't up to any meal time conversation.

So now I'm going to find something much less portable to use.

2. If the kitty is a female you should name her Garbo.

She obviously "vants to be alone."

3. The funny thing is, she's hanging around the back yard for most of the day, now

And I'm pretty sure it's a female because when walking away from me, I didn't see any dangly bits.

Some days she just sits and stares at the back porch door because that's the door I use when I put out food. She's still a bit nervous if I get too close, but the acceptable gap gets smaller, every day.

5. I don't know - she may have already claimed me. She has certainly claimed my back yard.

7. My goal is to have her gain enough comfort with me that I can give her a scritch

Ideally I'd also love to get her to a vet and have her spayed, if she hasn't already been. There are no notches on her ears.

Considering that just a few weeks ago she was FLEEING at the very sight of me it might take a while, if it ever happens. But that would bring me immense joy and make me feel like I've earned my spot on the planet.

Meanwhile, I'll just keep persisting.

Day by day, she is trusting you more and more.

9. You are doing the correct thing in taking your time, not trying to force things. I would guess

before too long, you might even have an indoor kitty! And you will figure out her name, if she has not yet told you!
