(25,811 posts)While I do not have that skill level, nor the patience to do such complex projects, I sort of know how they are done.
Back in the 1970s I acquired a crochet book that I call "The Hippy Dippy Book of Crochet". It was the very first crochet book I ever saw that had simple pictures showing the basics of crochet. And then it explained in plain English how to crochet various shapes. There were also a bunch of projects, and I did make several of the hand puppets.
So when I look at those pictures, I'm in awe of the patience and fortitude of the crocheter.
Worse yet, my ex's current wife (the woman he left me for) took up knitting maybe four years ago. She is now doing complex lace patterns. Grrrr. I tried to take up knitting around the time my marriage came to an end, and I cannot honestly knit more than ten stitches in a row without making a mistake.
Sometimes life is not fair.
