The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo tonight my Sonny and I ventured out for our first dining-in experience in a year and
three months. It was great. Sonny had his favorite Chicken Fettucine Alfredo and I did
alright with a French Dip Sammich with Fries. Plus we sprung for the Italian Appetizer
Plate and brought food home too.
The Italian Ristorante, Marios, has long been a favorite with us and we weren't disappointed. It's been open for dine-in for some time now. There's a "masks required"
notice on the door, table distancing and sanitizing are being practiced and wait staff go
masked always. Diners, not so much! Sonny and I split a lavish tip for our server.
As soon as we got in the car we sanitized our hands, just 'cause, and declared the
evening a resounding success. Now to go get haircuts, see the dentist and so on.
Oh yeah, I took our vax cards along and nobody even mentioned that!

(21,753 posts)Restaurant traffic was very sparse. We chose a table well away from everyone else.
As we were eating, in comes a large, loud, unmasked group, complete with a runny nose kid that was running wild, and they threaded their way all through this empty restaurant and took the table right next to us.
At one point, the kid got out of his chair and crawled across the floor on hands and knees and ended up under our table. Dad came over, yelling at the kid, reached under our table and dragged the kid out by the foot.
My brother thought it was funny, my sister was mortified.
I think I will be wearing a mask for a long time to come.
My brother asked our server how business was. She said it was really slow through the day but got busier at supper time.

There are so many I want to try! Here the restaurants seem fairly busy.
Glad you had such a great time.

(2,343 posts)Us all getting out, one-by-one is what it will take to get some semblance of normalcy.
My wife, son, and I have been going out at least once per week, even before I was vaccinated fully. And my wife and son have received no jabs.
We only go to locally owned establishments. The gratitude the owners have for each custome flows from their increasing optimism. It makes one feel good and helpful!
The first 2 or 3 times, we were a little nervous. Now, no anxiety. We look forward to getting out.
Selfishly , it's nice being able to walk in and get a table with no wait.
Next weekend, we have tickets to a 3-game college baseball series. We went to a game Tuesday evening, 90% were sans mask. Finally, I made a concession run. Without it, I felt almost naked LOL. But, damn it felt good!
We're getting close, folks!!!!
