A hit in baseball is when the batter reaches base safely and no one goofed up (error) or the werent walked (4 pitches out of the strike zone) to get there. A ball can be physically hit but caught before it hits ground or thrown to first base before the batter/hitter runs to first. A perfect game is when no one gets on base for any reason other than an error by a fielder
The no-hitter has bugged me for years so what does it say that I haven't asked before this? Seen lots of games...Tigers when I went to school there and one or 2 Mets...you would've thought I would've figured it out... But I just put it down to male logic...

(17,183 posts)But not a no-hitter. A perfect game is 27 up, 27 down.
Or, there's always Ernie Shore's famous perfect-plus game. Starting pitcher (a fella named Babe Ruth) walked the first batter, got into it with the ump and was ejected. Shore came in, threw the runner on first out stealing, and retired the next 26 in a row.
Baseball's been going on so long, just about anything has already happened.
