I have an experiment for you. Take a football stadium. Cover the entire football field in tile. Put a small rug at the 50 yard line. Time how long it takes my bloody cat to throw up on the rug.

(64,951 posts)...how close to a spot with sunlight is it?
Because if it's near a sunny spot, the cat is already right next to the expensive rug!

(34,133 posts)As prep for bringing them into the remodeled house, we sent them to a rug cleaner company. Within two days - TWO DAYS - of putting the clean rugs down with their new pads, the cats had thrown up on them at least twice for each of the three cats.
For those who might worry about the cats' health - I found out that my husband was 'sharing' the milk he puts on his cereal with the cats. AS soon he stopped doing that, the vomiting stopped.

Spot remover, scrub brush, and carpet shampooer - essential items in a kitty home.

(34,133 posts)Sabra is very overweight so we are restricting their food. We put out 1/3 of a cup of crunchies twice a day for each cat. Maya is tiny - under 8 pounds so she often does not finish her food. Lucas is larger so he cleans up what Maya doesn't eat. Sabra eats hers and looks for more, but Lucas is very efficient at cleaning up uneaten food so there isn't much left for Sabra. It takes several hours for all the crunchies to be consumed.
We split one of those little cans of cat food among the three cats two or three times a week. That is a big occasion for the cats. I put that down then wait a couple of hours to put down their crunchies, so they don't eat too much at a time.
We don't have much problem with hair balls. I have cat grass growing on the catio and they all go out there and graze on it. I've never found green vomit, so I guess that is pushing the hair through their systems.
In fact, since we put them on diets, I have not found any cat vomit anywhere in the house. I think it helps that they all eat slowly and don't bolt their food.

(14,120 posts)Take a football field, put a table two thirds the size of the field and put it in the field. Then put a glass in the middle of the table. Use a stopwatch to find out how long it takes for the cat to knock the glass off the table.

One of our, as I observed above, has managed to barf into the heat vent in the floor of the kitchen - a special talent.
