One of my oldest and dearest patients just got diagnosed with liver cancer.

I just referred him to oncology. We''ll see how it goes. He's been a patient of mine for as long as I've been in practice. Sweetest guy in the world...

I just got off the phone with him. It was everything I could do to keep from breaking down and crying. I didn't want to embarrass him or make him more anxious than he no doubt already is.

after treatment for liver cancer and cirrhosis. I found that amazing at the time and still do. Of course, he was lucky to have received a liver transplant which is not an option for everyone. Still, there is hope.

Good luck to your patient.
