(7,143 posts)1. A pickup truck without an 8-foot bed is useless. Even he agrees. So that eliminates both.
2. The Ford is near production. The Tesla is a concept.

(37,453 posts)he drives from where we live to in the Hudson Valley to Virginia, he usually makes 25 minute stop for a recharge for the car and himself, just north of Baltimore Md. Anyone knowing the I95 corridor will tell a stop is going to take at least 25 if not longer if your getting food. Its 3 1/2 hrs and 217 miles. Not Bad for a Bolt. People buy the Ford P/up want it as a substitute for the old truck or a car, not some crazy looking off-road thing

(7,364 posts)The Ford F series trucks are the best selling trucks out there and the lightning outperforms the previous ones in every respect except range. Thats what most previous ford buyers are going to care about, not some, excuse me, Buck Rogers looking truck that most Ford buyers would not be caught dead in, cough (rednecks) cough. You will see the cybertruck in big cities some but mostly you will see the Ford lightning throughout the country because its a ford. Daddy had a ford, grand daddy had a ford and ba god I'm a ford man lol. Personally I think the specs on the cyber truck are way impressive but its just too darn ugly.

in the meantime, they're pretty looking wanna bes.
Most will sit in an office parking lot or a suburban driveway owned by people that wash them every other day.

(1,005 posts)Ford has two big advantages
1. Tesla has MAYBE 2 factories. Ford had at least 30 that they are actively retooling to make electrics. Tesla may have the innovation part, but Ford will drive adoption by pure volume. Just ask companies like Cord and Tucker.
2. Ford had big R&D facilities. What's preventing them from buying a Tesla truck, taking it apart, seeing how everything works and reverse engineering any of the patented parts?
