(43,160 posts)This is amazing--I have never seen or heard of a bird making sounds like this!
It reminds me of something that happened the other day. I was in my car and I had a new speaker for my iPhone on. I stopped to type into my phone for directions and did not realize the "typing sound" that was on sounded like bullets, just like on this clip.
I thought someone was shooting at me! I wondered if I should duck. Hey this is what mass shootings every day will get you.

(40,915 posts)Shoebill storks are very docile with humans. Researchers studying these birds have been able to come within 6 feet of a shoebill stork on its nest. The shoebill stork will not threaten humans, but will only stare right back at them.

I love it, though. I love strange looking critters in general, and this thing definitely qualifies.

That is a very strange looking bird (it is a bird, right?).

I bet he could scare away the three owls that like to fight in my tree every night at midnight.

But wow, that was incredible. I wonder how that bird can produce that sound. I would never have imagined a bird could sound like that!
