(46,026 posts)My brother was getting married.
But our folks disapproved, b/c my brother had converted to Islam (Sufi/Mystical Islam) and was marrying another Sufi. (We pretended to be Jewish.)
So the time came for the parents of the betrothed couple to meet and go out to dinner. Her parents were impeccable in Brooks Brothers and Chanel. Mom was in her fuchsia Chanel. Dad showed up in a dirty, torn, stained white golf shirt, coupled with stained khaki golf pants, also torn.
My brother was mortified. He returned with my SIL-to-be from dinner, bewailing Dad's attire and stunt. I listened to "How could he do this to me . . . . . " for about 3 minutes before I had enough. I told my brother that he was asking the wrong question. He should have been asking "I wonder what Dad will wear to the wedding . . . . . "
While Dad didn't wear a matching suit, he wore a sports jacket to show his disapproval.
BTW, Dad is dead and my brother is still Sufi and still happily married.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thanos might have turned half the universe to dust and caused a flurry of chaos, but it looks like he isn't opposed to enjoying some of life's most beautiful moments. A photo from Reddit user kittencookies has caught some attention online, as a Thanos cosplayer can be seen attending their sister's wedding.
While the idea of the Mad Titan showing up at a wedding might not be ideal for everyone, kittencookies later clarified that it fit with the wedding's Marvel theme. Guests were apparently instructed to "wear your best Marvel T-shirt," something that this particular attendee took to a whole other level.
Comment from discussion This photo from my sisters wedding went viral today.
Love it or hate it, it's hard to deny that the Thanos cosplay makes this wedding pretty unforgettable. Without getting into Avengers: Endgame spoilers, it also arguably lines up in an amusing way with the character's mindset at the start of the film.
