Maybelline Power Peony is damn close for less than $10. Personally, I would never spend $50 on a lipstick.

(21,196 posts)Is the fact that it has "TF" on it. I've never been a big fan of designer labels slapped on ordinary products that double the price. On the other hand, I still have a couple of my mother's Coach leather handbags that she bought 40 years ago. I'll pay for extra for quality, not for a logo.

(63,221 posts)I know it's ridiculous, but I don't wear much makeup anymore since I don't go out very often, so it lasts much longer.
I just found that I would buy other lipsticks and not use them because I didn't like them very much, so they would go to waste.

(33,643 posts)as well. The profit margin one pays in this case is absurd.

Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)In my life the things I've splurged on were mostly lady-things that I bought for ladies, because the Pink Tax is a real thing.

(53,166 posts)...and that Tom Ford color looks an awful lot like MAC Girl About Town, the Official Shade of the Seahawks.
sprinkleeninow
(22,334 posts)It's more subdued than Tom Ford's. Hard to tell actual colors online.

(16,949 posts)IMO, you should buy and use what makes you happy and feel good about yourself price be damned. I wear a touch of makeup to work, mostly neutral eye shadows and some mascara. Burt's Bees has lipstick shades I like, although my mouth is covered up with a mask at work these days. I can't stand dry lips. Anyway, I probably spend about $50 per year. YET, I do go to the salon every six weeks to have my roots covered and that is expensive but I don't care.

(22,334 posts)Doing my own nails. First pedicure I had in a lifetime was in 2013. I missed out on a treat. Felt like I had new feet and legs.
I never had to spend $$ on any styling or nails bc I hold a cosmetology/cosmetic arts license to practice since the 60's.
