The day will mark my father's birthday, 98 years ago. When he passed in September of 2008, more than 500 DUers, past and present, paid their respects to me and my family. That outpouring of love and kindness helped me through that time, and was one of the main reasons I started posting the pics. A weekly thank you, for a debt I can never fully repay. Tomorrow morning, I say thank you again, from the bottom of a forever grateful heart. See you all then.

I wasn't on DU in 2008, but I was challenged with the passing of my own Dad the month following your loss and can only imagine the outpouring of love & support that flowed to you & wish I'd been here then for you.

His 100th was in 2019 & we had a cake with "100" candles & sang happy bday. He's never far from us & I trust your Dad is always near you.

One thing I learned when my wife and I were in foster/adopt classes is give the kids a way to memorialize the past. None have found anything like that yet, but for my father I sail. For my mother we've started watching a musical around her birthday.

I had no idea of the origin story of LOLCats. I've just been grateful to see this feature every Sunday, and bask in the cuteness, hilarity and wonder of it all. This is a revelation to me, and makes it SO much better. Definitely one of the VERY best stories I've heard here.

Like our country is going to hell..lol cats reminds me to not lose hope.

Whenever I get so pissed I wanna smack the smirk off any damn republican,seeing your lolcats and catbyte's cat and dogs and other animals videos get me laughing and remind me love still exists and it's still beautiful and there are good humans out there..

Whenever my mental issues have me depressed,going weird or just losing it, lolcats cute animal and cat pics reminds me reality isn't always awful.
