What is your opinion of reddit as a message board?

I've seen a lot of gadflies and "if you don't agree with me 100%, you're the enemy types." It doesn't seem well moderated as well.

I just started posting there on my personal email and account and it has a very nasty, Free Republic bent to the responses, even if what is posted is logical and well thought out.

1. I look at reddit, but there is nothing in the world that could induce me to post anything there.

It's useful for spotting trending news and stories, but the comments look like a hell of a lot more trouble than they're worth...

but I don’t go there for politics or anything serious. I follow fun and quirky stuff there, and some of the comment threads are friggin hilarious!
r/animalsbeingbros and r/likeus (also about animals) are insanely wholesome and cute, r/maliciouscompliance is good, r/idiotsfightingthings and r/dumbasseswithlighters are wondrous parades of human stupidity. I never run into mean people or comments looking at the silly shit, there’s some really funny people in the comments.

... except when search engines have directed me there for references to my search terms.

But I've learned to avoid almost any internet message boards regarding politics. It's not like I'm trying to insulate myself from opposing opinions, but rather the cases of outright lies.

I suspect that several of them have been infiltrated by Russian bots. Not just Russian humans employed to stir up trouble in this country, but artificial intelligence to promote further confusion and infighting here.

some arts and crafts, certain tv shows have subs to discuss episodes, theres all kinds of music threads of bands and genres. cactus & succulents, true crime. Search for something you like and there's usually a sub for it. so many topics there.

I choose to only to look at the subs I subscribe to. You can do that or just browse the popular stuff... a lot of which is... not my cup of tea.

It's a time waster but I find some interesting stuff there.

and for the weird science type subjects and humor an d entertainment.

There is a sub-reddit for damn near everything that exists and quite a few things that don't.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of both liberal and conservative sub-reddits so if the one you're in is full of crap, keep looking.

at least once every few weeks someone comes on to gripe about how negative people are.

But I have found many of them to be very helpful depending on what you are looking for. I don't read any political boards there.
