Just got my names mixed up lol ...

for the punk band ... I'd imagine Green Day meets those criteria, but maybe not who you meant. Can't think of any bands but ST and Green Day that lasted 22 years continuous though. Oh ... how about Rancid? They been round since the early 90's actually.

First song I learned to play on guitar was 'Here Comes a Regular' by The Replacements. I don't know John's. But if it was Buddy Holly I'd not be at all surprised.

After more research it turns out he started playing with Jerry when he was 15, but it wasn't the Grateful Dead. It was 'Mother McRee's uptown jug Champions' which was a bluegrass thing.🙂

Feels like it just always existed lol ...

I cheated so I won't name the artist, but ... that is some trivia I did not know. I remember the Juice Newton cover of the latter.

Very solid trivia question I must say.

1) After singer Peter Murphy left it in the early 80's, his existing band carried on with a different name. What was it before, and what did it become?

2) Who has been in all three bands Depeche Mode, Yaz, and Erasure?

3 & 4) What 1980's (and still extant) British Goth Band's drummer's name is Doktor Avalanche, and why is this amusing? Added since last time: The Doktor and singer Andrew Eldritch are the only persistent members of the band.

5) The (guest) singer of the Massive Attack hit 'Teardrop', also known as the theme of the US show 'House', was Liz Fraser of Cocteau Twins ... what iconic alt-rock record label did that band record under?

Name ALL THREE bands if you can.

Don't pick one or two, don't answer unless you have all 3.

Two are from North America, one is from Europe.

One of them did so for considerably longer than that, another was founded well before 1984, but had brief lineup changes in the early 1980's. The third has existed slightly longer, but has never had a lineup change.

U2 and Rush were two of three I had in mind (first and last in my mentioning of the details)

So ... who is the other (the middle clue I gave)?

Here's another to guess, #5 ... a British group, who have toured with the same lineup since 1981, with addition of exactly 1 member (and no subtractions).

maybe I'm mistaken...? Ed Cassidy was old, would be 98 if still alive. He played with jazz bands including Cannonball Adderley and Art Pepper, the great alto sax player.

Jimi Hendrix; they was another Randy (Palmer) went by Randy Texas.

Jerry Slick played for the Great Society. He was Grace Slick's husband for a while. I have everything that Jefferson Airplane, Great Society and Jefferson Starship ever did.

The first drummer for the Airplane was Jerry Peloquin.
He left the group after only a few weeks and Skip Spence replaced him, (even though he was actually a guitarist)

The Airplane's first gig was the opening night at The Matrix, in SF, on August 13, 1965
(I think it was on Fillmore St.)
