What does it do that paypal does not?
I was asked at a community yard sale a few weeks ago if I took Venmo and when I said, no, but that I could accept a Paypal payment, she looked at me as though I was crazy and decided not to make the purchase. So, what am I missing?

Its a payment transfer system. Its another PayPal brand.
There is a generational difference in user vase simply as a consequence of advertising strategy.

(4,919 posts)Both are really helpful... But, I think Cash app is much easier, and I prefer it... I use both because it really depends on what your sender or recipient is using. Venmo appears to be much more popular... Just make sure you disable the feature that makes your transactions public... Venmo seems to want to be a social media app. I just need it to send money.
You can get physical debit cards from both of them, but the Cash debit card is way cooler looking.
Last time I checked, both Venmo and Cash are faster with bank transfers than Paypal.

(1,840 posts)It costs money to do so via paypal. That is why she did not want to use it.
You can get a Venmo debit card for convenient usage of Venmo funds. If you do start to use Venmo, it would be smart to get the debit card. You can also transfer Venmo funds to your linked checking/bank account. Transfer by next day to your bank account is free; instant transfer costs 1%, with the maximum being $10.

(55,334 posts)I mean, money's not a worry for me these days. But someone paid me 90 bucks on Venmo abt 6 months ago and I haven't had an opportunity to use it. So it's just sitting there, waiting for me to buy a cheap painting or pick up some handcrafted boutique soap at the next art fair I go to.
