By the way, on a somewhat related note, I looked up more details about the survival of Juliane Koepcke in the Amazon rain forest after she fell nearly two miles (still strapped to her seat) during the 1971 plane crash of LANSA Flight 508. There was a thread about her on DU several days ago.
Anyway, from an aerodynamic perspective, she revealed during a later interview that she suspected her row of three seats was slowed down by a rotating action before hitting the canopy of trees and vines. She lost consciousness on the way down, but last recalled the fast spinning. Reminded me of tree seed helicopters.
