I haven't watched it since it originally aired. I own all of the DVDs. My wife and I are going to watch an episode a night.
I remember when I first saw it. Season one had already aired. But AMC was running it in a 24 hour loop just prior to the start of Season 2. I was flipping channels one Saturday afternoon, came across the middle of some episode and decided I would watch for a few minutes. I could barely tear myself away six hours later.
I aspire to be Don Draper but I'm afraid I'm really Roger Sterling.
Now where did I put my martini shaker?

(102,190 posts)I always found it fascinating how they incorporated factual events and radio/tv footage from the time period into the episodes. The reactions to JFK assassination, just one example.
Of course, the blatant misogyny, constant smoking (tends to make me nauseous just watching), drinking (I clutch my liver--lol), and racism of the time are tough to relive, but the show is well done and casting was superb.

(7,911 posts)I just watched season 5 episode 1 last night. Episode 2 coming up next. (Streaming on Amazon Prime)
I'm surprised at how many familiar faces I'm noticing that I didn't notice the first time around. Actors I remember from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Gilmore Girls, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Handmaid's Tale (obviously), and others. The real surprise was when I realized why Bert Copper looked so familiar. In 1967 I saw him in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. A memorable performance in a great movie.

(182,720 posts)On Hulu. My wife watched the whole thing while I just caught most of the shows. Wow that was a really well done show. I love that Draper never changes his dress or appearance thru the years. The intro is really about him and that the whole show is really him falling apart but keeps going simply with determination and talent. Every time he checked out he came back with money falling into his lap.
Draper is a fantastic character. Many excellent characters. I could go on and on about this show.

(25,839 posts)Without any plot spoilers, I think that it ended poorly. I just couldn't buy it, so if I ever re-watch the entire series, I'll not bother with the final episode.
There are some minor inaccuracies, none of which I can recall right now. But I'm old enough to remember those times quite well.
