Yes. The people at the conventions can dress and be very weird. I always told my friends, I'd never want to date a woman who liked sci-fi as much as me. Because such a woman would obviously be too weird.
I married a woman who watched Trek solely because I like it. And we're going to live happily ever after.

And as long as the venue was air conditioned, it would matter much unless they had to wait outside.
