that they are magic in some ways. They do stuff that seems just inexplicable.

of this ceramic decanter I keep the cat treats in, ZOOM, from anywhere in the house! She does the same with her canned cat food if she's close enough. She can't hear that one so well the way my kitchen is set up.

Exact same action when I open the can of tuna. She know she gets it between 10-11 in the morning, so she is probably extra alert. But as soon as I put that can on the counter and open the utensil drawer she is out from wherever she was and at my feet no matter how quiet I try to be.

when I open a can of friskies. They gather at the patio door - they know what time they are fed and they know the sounds.

The cat was probably heading that direction soon after the loudly squeaky door was opened.

I was able to surprise cats with a bowl of wet food, from a can, when I was truly quiet about it.

Whenever I'd made any noise like opening a drawer of utensils, the cat showed up in the kitchen to see what I was doing.

She can hear me brushing my hair from downstairs while she is dead asleep on her cat tree, wakes up, and comes running.
