So I messed up. I purchased dry Science diet cat food. Normally they love the purina crack cat chow. Well, they refused to eat it. They are fed wet food in the morning, but for 3 days I would refuse to open a new dry bag of food.
Today, I surrendered. We dont know how, but the two cats were in the garage and opened the door to our freezer. All food, including my ice cream was melted.
So today, again I have learned, dont fuck with the cats.

(3,406 posts)I had similar issues getting one of mine on a special food for urinary problems. Amazing that they got into trouble like that. They must work as a team. 😽

(25,837 posts)When I brought my current cat home from the shelter, I wanted to upgrade her to a better catfood than the shelter was giving her. I did it by mixing the new food with the old one. She did adjust, and I'm happy that she's eating well.

(34,133 posts)Then my husband bought regular Meow Mix. The cats are kind of on a strike - they are only eating the Meow Mix once they realize nothing else is coming.
That's OK - two of the cats are on a diet, especially Sabra. They each get a max of 1/3 cup of dry food twice a day, what the cat food manufacturers recommend. If they will voluntarily eat less, that is a plus. They also get to share a small can of cat food two or three times a week, which they get very excited about.
My husband bought a small bag of the Purina Naturals today but we have not opened it. We have about twice that much of the Meow Mix left and he doesn't want to mix the two.
The last dry food they refused to eat went to the crows - I bet they'd love to have some Meow Mix!
Get a lock for your freezer - that should stump the cats.

(21,417 posts)There is very little that she won't eat, or at least try out. Since some plants and human foods are harmful to cats, I have to be careful about what plants I have and about leaving food unattended.

(23,620 posts)I have tried wet food, but she just licks the liquid and leaves the solid, so it's a waste of money. Have tried different brands and types, but she'll just lick the moisture and leave the rest.
Very rarely with the dry SD. I feel bad for her, she has no variety in her food. She doesn't seem to mind, she really doesn't eat that much. I have tried treats too, she gets all excited when I give them to her, but she throws up after eating them too!
Wish I knew someone, whos cat liked it, I would have sent it over.
The possum ate it last night. I always leave a bowl with food and water. They come up every night. They maybe grateful, unlike my cats.
