The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy evening snack will be a little unique among those on this board. Earlier, I picked a pint or
so of wild blackberries along the edge of the yard near our asparagus bed.
A little sugar, a splash of milk and ----mmmm! Memories of six dozen prior summers.
I really do wish I could share, but-------

(14,149 posts)Is there ample room to park 6,000 cars at your place ?
Someone could bring vanilla ice cream.
Do you have enough dish and silverware ?
What a wonderful gesture on your behalf.

(21,448 posts)every summer. For a few years I lived across from a rural road that led down the side of a country meadow. The wild blackberries there were so abundant that the guy I was dating at the time and I took several walks down that road and brought brought back enough blackberries to make pies, cobblers, and just milk and berry snacks. We had so many that we gave away some pies to friends. They were big, juicy, and sweet. Good toppings on ice cream, too.
But it's a bit early here for them. This is raspberry season here right now. Blackberries in a few weeks, if it stops raining enough for them to ripen.
We always ate berries with milk/cream and sugar. We also picked rhubarb and dunked it in sugar to eat like candy.

(34,136 posts)These are wild ones, but boy, they were blooming like mad this spring. I bet the birds, rabbits, squirrels, and deer have eaten them all, though.
