Is it legal to sell this?

I was given some vintage art supplies, and in this lot is more than a hundred very small glass vials with pigment powders and little cork stoppers. Someone cautioned me that these powders might be ecologically harmful. I know nothing about them, but I was thinking of listing them on eBay.

Does anyone here know anything about this?

1. Are they labeled ?

Some may contain lead or other toxins, if labeled you could check

4. okay, I checked some labels.

Evidently they are made for china painting.

And the labels all caution against inhaling or handling the powders -- may contain toxins.

It might not even be a good thing to dispose of them. LOL.

with local potters, they may be meant for firing

2. For sure list them only for local pickup, in case that's not obvious

Local pickup I would think you're in the clear, legally.

3. Put them up for sale. There are a lot of artist that would give there eye teeth for old pigments.

I just searched eBay. Yes. There are lots similar to what I have that have sold recently. Good news.

I appreciate the caution, but this seems to be a widely used art medium and sought after as vintage.
