The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWe're getting cluster-bombed with phone calls. One after the other.
They claim that suspicious activity has been seen on my husband's I-cloud account and to call their toll free number, which happens to begin with 315. All the calls are local, but different numbers. A few seem to originate from my husband's account.
Now they're going from I-Cloud to Amazon.
We've had about a dozen calls in less than an hour.

(1,786 posts)I have fun with it. With ICloud, tell them that since it was their server, they need to fix it, and then repay you by getting you some Google Play cards,
With Amazon, just say that you have family all over the country who uses your Amazon account and they spend well over a thousand every week.
Both of these will get them to hang up on you.

(46,703 posts)My husband says that it seems to happen every time he gets an update from Microsoft.
Personally, I can't figure out how they connected the google from my phone, to the google to my laptop. It just seems that Microsoft is setting us up for an immense hack.

(20,577 posts)A phone call with someone I want to talk to has beeps when the spammers are calling. So I have to turn that feature off on my phone. This is so wrong.

(21,753 posts)I check the Caller ID log a few times a day and return calls to numbers that I recognize.
Sometimes I get a dozen or more scam calls in a day. It's too much trouble to try and deal with them.

(46,703 posts)I just hope this isn't someone's way of deciding whether we're home or not. We, simply, do not answer the phone if we don't think it's a legit call.

(5,477 posts)when I get a call from a number I don't recognize, I turn on the scanner then answer, "North precinct, fraud division" with police calls going on in the background. They usually can't hang up fast enough.
I got the Social Security scammers a few days ago...it starts with a recorded scam message about the fraud on my account, and to press '1' to be connected with an officer.
So I pressed '1'.
The scammer listened to police calls for about a minute before he hung up.
