Last Jan. I had a tooth in back extracted. As a result my teeth on that side have moved apart and now I have a space between my two front teeth. I'm hoping Invisalign can fix it but is it expensive? Does it work on old people?

(11,008 posts)She didn't need anything drastic, like because of extractions messing w/ her spacing, and I don't think it's too terribly expensive - with insurance I believe we're paying around $1000. She has a box of different retainers that she switches out every two weeks.
Her problem so far is that they're difficult to remove when eating, and she keeps popping off the little buttons that it latches to on her teeth.

(5,942 posts)depending on how diligent I am in wearing the aligners. 16 hours a day it will be 14 months, 20+ hours a day and 12 months or less.

(5,942 posts)I am 52, and was too poor to afford an orthodontist as a kid. I have always had crooked teeth. I finally have the time and money to do something about it. I am so excited to hear other people got good results with these. I have wanted to fix this problem since I was a kid.

(2,868 posts)but I'm seeing ads for 'Smile Direct Club', where they flat-out say they cost 60% less than Invisalign for the same thing. I dunno if it's the same thing or not, but perhaps it's a another disrupted marketplace. At a 60% discount, I sure would want to find out.

(23,652 posts)My teeth defiantly are realigning. Because of age your jaw line changes. A coupler of my teeth began to turn. I don't like having them in and having to keep taking them out to eat. But if they reset my teeth it'll be worth it.

(82,849 posts)There are a lot of complicating factors, as you can guess. My granddaughter had teeth that took after her mother, looking like an abandoned cemetery. She went with the invisalign program, and I was highly skeptical. But she was very conscientious about keeping the guides in, following all instructions, and keeping with the program. She was in her mid-teens and came out with a terrific result about two years later. Five years down the line, she's still got the new alignment.
