It was always a good show.

Thanks for bringing him back to my consciousness.

The cover was done by a band I worked with many years ago and the lyrics came to mind when I saw the cats on the sidewalk.

You are fortunate to have seen him.

I saw all kinds of great musicians there, Moses Allison, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, John Abercrombie, John Fahey - who really could drink - Clark Terry, many others.

There was a flophouse next door, and briefly, when I was down and out, I rented a room there. You could crawl out the window, sit by the Lighthouse's skylight, and take in a concert for free. But I also paid to get in many times. I'd the choice was between food and a ticket, sometimes the ticket would win.

It was said Coltrane played there, but old as I am, it was before my time. I had no idea who Coltrane was when he died, since I was just a kid, but it must have been a sacred experience to have seen him at the Lighthouse.

I went back to Hermosa Beach, maybe 10 years ago, for a brief trip down memory lane, and it had become some kind of flashy yuppie bar, but it had a great history.

And then, of course, there is always catmint tea. Has the opposite effect on humans than it does on our furbabies.
