Mr. Ninga filed our taxes electronically the end of March. We are due a refund and keep checking the Where's My Refund link and it always sez "pending".
Mr. Ninga had it up to his eyeballs and called the IRS at 8 AM today. He eventually got through nearly 1.5 hrs later.
The person checked and said Tax Return was processed and is now in the refund department. Mr. Ninga got transferred to said department and was on hold for an hour and 11 minutes when a human answered. The human said yep, due refund, but we have no idea when funds will be available to process, or in what order given the backlog.
So. Anyone else have this experience?

(7,611 posts)One of these days I'm going to call, but from what I've read on the net, it's impossible to get through. I think you just saved me the bother.

(4,528 posts)Last year my 2019 return ( which I mailed in Feb 2020 ) was FINALLY processed in March of 2021.
Yes, you read those dates correctly.
I hope you are not in a hurry.

(7,153 posts)Before CV, I volunteered in a low-income tax office, and made sure to have crayons and paper on hand on day 1 as the families with children were lining up for getting their tax returns filed electronically so they could get their big tax refunds/credits ASAP.
With the current delays ((I haven't gotten my refund yet either)), this may have spurred action to start handing out new CTC payment/refunds early.

(34,189 posts)Not processed until April 2021. The final return for my Dad's estate was submitted March 2020 and the IRS now claims they didn't get it - even though it was sent signature required and someone at the office signed off on it's arrival - plus the check cleared March of 2020.
The IRS is way understaffed and between that and Covid-19 shut downs, it's amazing anything is getting done.
What I learnef is the check goes one place, the return another
