(22,363 posts)I fostered a dog who had this kind of issue. The owner should not ignore the behavior but instead rectify by showing that she is command. She can do that by standing upright and with the right voice put the dog through commands like sit, down, etc. After that, she can give him a treat, again showing her dominance but ending the session with a conciliatory tone.

(63,221 posts)Otherwise, it gets really annoying (and painful) after a while. You just can't allow it at all.
We would either say "no bite" and push their snout down repeatedly (but not harshly or violently), which they didn't like, or you say the same thing and have a spray bottle of water that you spritz them with every time they do it. It worked. Eventually they stop completely
