Mother Nature here on Cape Cod gave us a sunset yesterday that was a cruel reminder that in 7 days, we have to leave until next year:
Resolve weakening..........
Resolve weakening still further....................

(149,767 posts)Is there any way you can extend your trip? I'm guessing there isn't.
Consider these sunset photos to be extra motivation for your eventual return! As if.

(54,484 posts)That ad used to come on while I was still living in the U.S.
It certainly outlived the product it was trying to sell!

(54,484 posts)Taking five weeks as it is was unprecedented for me.
(you won't tell anyone or post it on the internet, will you?)

(15,447 posts)But even if "we" do leave, these skies will continue on (I hope) for the next round of creatures who might appreciate them more.

(7,257 posts)I saw that every night. Ritual was to have cocktails with the setting sun. And when it really got good? When the sun was just below the horizon

(54,484 posts)We saw similar things in Waikoloa and South Kona. When my daughter spent two years of school in Waimea on the Big Island, her roomie was from South Kona, so she went to her roomies house on the weekends. It was little more than a shack put together with scotch tape and Elmers glue, but it was on the water (everybody knows Hawaiians cant afford to live in Hawaii). Nothing like watching dolphins play in front of your house at breakfast!

(54,484 posts)Sometimes, its such a show, no one wants to take the 15 seconds to stop staring and take a picture. I pity the painters. How is someones imagination supposed to top this?

(54,484 posts)Truro. That tiny, nearly uninhabited piece of land between Provincetown and Wellfleet. The street to get here off of Route 6 isnt even paved. I see enough of what passes for civilization during the rest of the year. For this one stretch, I take some down time.

(54,484 posts)If you are used to palm trees and sky blue water, thats not here, but the air, the food, the calm, the music, the beaches and the wonderful people make it close enough to paradise for us that we have now been coming here 37 years in a row, and its not exactly around the corner for us.

(54,484 posts)But we have been here since July 3, so I cant whine. Some people get only 2 weeks vacation. Some get none at all. Ive had to work some while here, but it was all phone/remote stuff that I couldnt do because I am too far away (DUH! That is exactly why I go go so far away!). Things I never delegate? I delegate them. My people in Europe are very loyal, and they know Id never ask them to do something I could do unless Im sick or not there.
