The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsO.K. so what's Lounge verdict on robot-mowers? Am skeptical but tempted.

Look, been having to mow for 3 months with climate change raining, at least 3Xmo. Am fed up.
So am *OLD* (74) and therefore/consequently reaching the end of how doing-it-m'self is entertaining. Yeah, my cardiologist wants me to exercise but claims this is beyond his "recommendations."
**** The riding mower (cheapest kind) had stalling, no-reverse problems from the get-go. Plus, my "helpful" Tim-Toolman neighbor just wanted to take it all apart and put it together with parts/screws left over, and it was never the same ever.
So I donated it to the VFW. Thinking it was LOST for workabilityl. Well, they FIXED it and then offered to mow my crap for $10/hour. Fuck that/them.
**** So it's been raining for 3 months, meaning I've been mowing about 1/week for 3 months. I'm 74, did I mention that? Am someday going to begin paying. Besides what I pay now for whatever.
*********So. Seeing these little robot mowers on YouTube. A wire around the perimeter. But I know it won't work, me laying some kind of wire somewhere, I don't thinks so.
What is the know-it-all Lounge consensus?

(22,343 posts)I can mow. A gasoline powered walk behind. I almost tipped our riding mower over once so was not allowed again. 😆

(14,964 posts)hit a hot wheel, and it flew through the air and hit me in the pool, right under my eye. My Dr. said I could have lost my eye.
I have never been taught to mow ever.😔 I didn't do it, I don't see why I couldn't mow, always wanted to.😕

(43,165 posts)Forget that option. For that kind of money you can re-landscape with shrubs and ornamentals and cut out a big percentage of the mowing.
I put in 4 raised beds and raise tomatoes and lettuce in them.
If you want send me a pic of your landscape and I can give you an easy way to handle this.
