Years ago a poster who didn't know "erstwhile" and projected his wrong meaning of it as something like "false" condescended to correct me. My usage was correct, of course.
Also years ago when I used "gratuitous," the DUer here with the handle "gratuitous" seemed to be happy to see the usage. Prolly doesn't remember.
