12. Erma Raumbauer Margarita here

My wife collects early editions of Joy of Cooking, the seminal cookbook by Erma Raumbauer. One of the earliest contains this recipe for the “Margherita”:
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice mix:
Juice if one half lime
1 oz of Tequila
2/3 oz of Cointreau
Shake well, strain into a Martini glass

Earlier in the section on drinks she says, “cocktails served “up” should be proportioned to drink in several small sips.”
