(19,204 posts)1. Traffic headed nowhere.
They'll eventually get out of Dodge. Looks like it's time to open the southbound lanes up to northbound traffic. Get everyone the heck out of there.
Be safe everyone.
We havent had a really severe tornado since, what, the late 80s. No hurricanes, no big fires, ( once in a great while in the UP) no mud slides, and even the winters have not been bad lately. Last winter is was basically February and the year before, January. I can live with one month of snow. And plenty of water.
In 25/50 years people are going to start looking at the upper midwest like Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, as it will no longer be viable to sustain a comfortable live in the deserts of Arizona or
In lower Florida while it slowly sinks. Be nice if it took DeSantis with it.
Never really thought about living here much, we actually looked around but cant afford Northern California, cant stand the red state south, ( the farthest I would go is northern Virginia and thats expensive) and so is New England where my family is from. So I guess well just stay here.

My heart is in my throat imagining what it is like to be in that line of traffic, hoping to find safe haven and wondering what will remain when you return.

(34,458 posts)11. I'm really beginning to fear for NOLA. Ida is jogging farther east than anticipated so now
the National Hurricane Center has put NOLA in the cone. The only good news is that it's traveling faster than predicted so it won't have as much time to strengthen. It's still going to be a beast, but it strengthening to a cat 5 is becoming increasingly unlikely.
