(34,294 posts)He was claiming that he had ordered a Cookies and Cream Bday cake for his daughter. DQ was saying that he hadn't called it in. He was yelling and saying, "I called the other DQ and they said they I couldn't preorder, so I called here"...He storms out and then came back in and started yelling again...
I was like, "You're going off the deep end over a bday cake?"....
I'm sure he was a MAGAT...
He must be a total a__ is real life...
I stayed as far as possible away from him.

Gimme a ........

I was mortified. I thought the guy grew up in a barn and I wanted to apologize to the waiter. I guess maybe they hear it all. But many years ago I waitressed for a few different places and I don't remember anyone talking like a 2 year old to order things

(72,187 posts)I was raised to give a restaurant order like this: "May I please have..."
So hearing someone say something as seemingly inoffensive as "I want..." makes me cringe...

I'd like the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and no gravy.
And I'd like an iced tea to go with it.
Thank you.

(5,393 posts)For some reason, it doesnt bother me as much as the people who order by saying
I want...
I want ...
Maybe because gimme is more casual and I want sounds like a demanding toddler?
Its amazing how some people lose what manners they have when talking to waitstaff. I swear the pandemic has made it worse. Were still doing carry out only, so Ive been dealing with customers over the phone. Its been rough.

(34,195 posts)Saying I want a BLT or Give me a BLT is considered rude?

(14,814 posts)First in the restaurant business & then in retail. I could tell 100's of horror stories. And maybe even more humorous ones. Also quite a few feel-good heartwarming stories as well.
When you have to deal with other people in most situations a certain percentage are going to be assholes,
