I do cell phone support Tuesday through Saturday and on Saturday night I usually go out after I get off work to drive for Uber, make a little money and get people home. I like the idea that I help keep drunks off the road and help stranded people get home.
Sunday morning I picked up 2 young guys on the south side of Houston and took them to Lake Jackson. On the way there on the Texas coastal road my car hit a feral pig. It came out of nowhere. The trip was long and was a really good fare. No it seems like today I was practically working for nothing be the repair will cost more than the fare ($168)
I decided to look on the bright side. I am alive. I wasnt hurt at all. My passengers werent hurt. My passenger were two very polite young guys. As soon as we stopped one of them help me look at the car. The bumper is still attached but the drivers side is cracked, sticking out. The running light is hanging down but still connected. That plastic part on the undercarriage was dragging on the ground so we had to pull it off. But it still runs fine. I had no problem driving back home. I know a guy and Im going to go by tomorrow and see what its going to take to fix it.
I was really lucky that the hog wasnt bigger and that it wasnt standing directly in front. We could have all died in a wreck. Lot of people pay way more money to have adventures. I was riding around with two young guys. One of them was getting married. The were going home from his bachelor party. We listened to Nirvana, Weezer and The Toadies. At least I had fun until the feral hog.
Update: Even better news. I got it fixed for $100.

(3,764 posts)It happened right before a bridge so there wasnt enough room to stop before the bridge. The car started making a noise after we hit the hog but I wasnt going to stop on a bridge. It was a long bridge so I didnt go back. Anyway what if it wasnt dead and it charged us or something. Plus it was like 5:30 in the morning and I really didnt want to do anything but get these guys home and get home myself.

So yes, thank your lucky stars you and your passengers are alive!
