... who would you pick?
I'm still trying to figure out my pick, but it would probably be a younger actor so that I could watch new movies as they came out in the future. Picking an actor from the past would limit your movie choice to those that have already been released.
Tentatively, my top candidate is Jennifer Lawrence.

(9,729 posts)I think he's headed for greatness, plus he's young enough that I can enjoy his new movies for whatever length of time I have left. Close runner-up: Emma Watson
Thanks for a very thought-provoking question, Binkie!

(2,113 posts)There are so many movies with both of them that I have never seen so that would keep me busy for awhile. Plus, they're both still making movies, so I'd be set going forward.

Movies
Cary Grant. I can and do watch his movies over and over.
Frances McDormand. Mostly because I like a lot of the Coen Brothers movies.
TV
Olivia Colman. I haven't seen most of her TV shows so I would have plenty to watch if I had access to them. I enjoyed her in "Flowers", "Peep Show" and "Green Wing".
Mark Heap. He is so funny in "Green Wing" and "Friday Night Dinner". Why isn't he more well known?

and their movies.
So far, Gary Oldman is winning.
Edit to add:
My other contenders: Daniel Day Lewis and Leo DiCaprio
Coworker 1: Tom Cruise and Tom Hardy
Coworker 2: is Schwarzenegger all the way
Edit 2: Kevin Costner has entered the debate. Oldman is still winning. Harrison Ford gets a mention.
Edit 3: Samuel L. Mutherfuckin Jackson. For both the huge number of movies hes in and because hes Samuel L. MFn Jackson.

For female choice, it would be Cher b/c she acts as well as she sings.

Totally Tunsie
(10,885 posts)at around 18-20 films each, and Cher has certainly done more TV work. Moonstruck is my favorite of Cher's films. Compared to BS, I also prefer her singing.
But then, that's why we have opinions! There's no right answer.

(63,912 posts)She's Margaret Thatcher. She's doing a song and dance in Mamma Mia, she's that witch in the Sondheim musical, she's a conniving nun in Doubt, a holocaust survivor in Sophie's Choice, etc.
If I were a drama teacher I would assign scenes from those movies to be shown to my students. Here's how it is done by the best. Learn from her.

Tom always makes me happy.
Brad is The Best Eye-Candy.
And Christian is just one of the best actors ever.
And female? I agree with Yankee above: Meryl Streep. Hands down, Meryl's the best ever!
Worthy mention is Matt Damon because he's just a cutie & he's funny.
