...I would not, to put it politely, have thought of them as an all-time great team back in March. But they went out and pulled themselves thru a great season. The fact that the Dodgers won 106--one behind--should make it all the sweeter. (And what an amazing pennant race it would have been, if there were no "wild card".) Posey should get some MVP consideration, despite really being only a part-time player. I hope they meet the Red Sox in the Series...

Learned to really baseball at Candlestick. Went to the very last Giants game there, and watched them helicopter home plate from the Stick to the new ball park.
Love me some scrappy Giants!! And love having both my teams in the hunt!!

VENIVIDIVIXI "I came, I saw, I survived."
The Croix de Candlestick is an award pin that was given out to baseball fans as they exited Candlestick Park at the conclusion of a night game that went extra innings.[46][47] In reference to the ballpark's legendarily cold winds, the pin carried the motto, "Veni, Vidi, Vixi" ("I came, I saw, I survived" .[48]

(23,083 posts)You are right, beating the hated Dodgers out by one game is the cherry at the top of the big wins this year.
