Maybe a lot of people never heard of Elvira, but I remember (a long, long time ago) flipping channels back before there were 500 tv stations and seeing her introduce and comment on a B- horror movie and thought OMG, she is hilarious!
I found her interesting enough to want to read her recently released memoir ( I finished it this morning), which has quickly made it onto the NYT Bestseller list (good for her).
Cassandra Peterson is now 70 years old. While stuck at home during the pandemic she decided to write a book. And she wrote a good one, it is a very interesting read. Ill say this; What a life!
One of the things that makes a memoir work is when the writer is able to write about their own humanity in a real and honest way. She does a lot of that here. In between some really sad stories, she is very, very funny.
And she looks great at 70.

I forget now what kind of beer she was hawking.

(40,208 posts)She writes about the Coors beer campaign in her book, in fact an entire chapter.
She spent some of her childhood and then her teen years growing up in Colorado Springs.
Coors did this massive ad campaign with her until the day the religious fanatics in the Coors family decided her cleavage was demonic and fired her. I kid you not!
Hang onto that cardboard stand up, JohnnyRingo. It is worth a fortune!

You're making John Kerry jealous.
