Preserve the DNA of endangered species in long term storage.

Who knows what is lost when we lose a species of plant or animal?

Using science for a wow factor might entrance a few people, but the majority will midlessly go about being clueless about climate change and habitat loss for species existing now.

i guess there's room on the arctic tundra, but geez.
makes no sense to me to start this on such a huge animal. surely there are recently extinct animals that benefitted their environment that would be a better place to start.
not to mention that they are talking about making elephants more adaptable to an environment that is rapidly changing in the other direction. by the time they grow the herd, the tundra will likely be gone.

and yeah, the idea that this is a way to reform the tundra is just silly. surely there are yaks and such that could be deployed.
or machines, which, ya know, when you're done, you dont have to worry about where they go next.
